Texas Self-Defense: Teenager shot following gunfight with resident during home invasion :: 07/29/2021
SAN ANTONIO - Police are investigating a home invasion on the West Side.
The incident happened around 11 p.m. Wednesday at a home on N. San Ignacio Avenue near W. Commerce Street.
Police said a 17-year-old boy broke into the home armed with a rifle and a handgun. The home had four people inside. At some point, one of the people inside the home opened fire on the suspect who was trying to rob the house.
A gunfight ensued between the suspect and resident, which ended with the suspect being shot.
The suspect drove off and showed up at the Children's Hospital with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to Santa Rosa Downtown Hospital in critical condition. He will be charged with burglary of habitation.
The person who opened fire says they were defending themselves. They are not facing any charges.
