Pennsylvania Self-Defense: Homeowner shoots home invader in Schuylkill County :: 06/19/2018
NORTH MANHEIM TWP., Pa. - A home invasion turned bloody when the homeowner shot the man who entered and vandalized his home, according to police in Schuylkill County.
State police said around 6 p.m. Sunday, the suspect took a gas can from the garage and went inside the home in North Manheim Township, near Pottsville.
The man started pouring gasoline on the floor inside, and the homeowner, who was inside doing work, tried to push the suspect out of the home and a struggle ensued.
Police say the victim's daughter got his handgun and called 911 as the suspect continued to come at the homeowner, knocking him down.
The victim then fired one shot at the man, hitting him in the left arm and abdomen.
Police arrived and transported him to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest for his injuries, but say he has yet to be positively identified.
The suspect is facing burglary, simple assault and arson charges.
The homeowner sustained injuries to his face.
