Pennsylvania Self-Defense: Allentown store owner fires shot at would-be robber :: 12/01/2015
Authorities say an Allentown shop owner foiled an attempted armed robbery Saturday by pulling his own gun.
Allentown police report two men walked into the Falcon Grocery at 120 W. Chew St. just before 6 p.m. Saturday. The owner told police he only saw one man as the second served as a lookout, according to police Capt. Bill Reinick.
With his semi-automatic handgun drawn, the first suspect demanded the store owner's money. The owner drew his gun and fired one shot, which missed the suspect, according to Reinick.
Both men ran from the store.
Police said the suspect was wearing a black jacket with the hood up, camouflage pants, a white bandana over the lower half of his face and sunglasses. He's described as being of average height and build, possibly in his late teens or early twenties.
Authorities have surveillance photos of both men and said the suspect who served as the lookout wore a black jacket over a gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood up and tan pants. He too wore a white bandana over the lower half of his face and sunglasses, Reinick said.
Authorities describe him as being of average build and height armed with a revolver.
